This is not a rip of Setmore’s calendar
Setmore is appointment software. Owners type “setmore appointment” or “setmore pricing” when they want a booking page, a staff calendar, reminders, and a way to take a card. That job is real. A four-chair nail salon can live on that page all week: gel, dip, fill, acrylic, pedi, the Saturday art slot that only Tina can do.
The leak is not the booking widget. The leak is the line that rings while both hands are in product. The caller wants a fill on Monday. Voicemail does not write it. The booking page only helps the people who already opened it. Everyone else taps the next shop. Searching a Setmore alternative because of that scene is the wrong fork — unless the alternative is a phone layer, not a second calendar.
Same honesty if you run Vagaro, Booksy, or you typed “mangomint alternative” for the same reason. POS names are bait in this article. The conversion is AIVA on the line. We are not pretending to be Setmore, and we are not asking you to rip the book you already trained the floor on.
What Setmore is actually selling (quote the live page)
We fetched setmore.com/pricing on September 11, 2026. Numbers below are copied from that page. Nothing else is invented — including appointment caps the page does not print.
| Plan on the live page | Published price | What that card states |
|---|---|---|
| Free — “Start Free” | $0 / user / month | Up to 4 users. The same card lists unlimited appointments, payments, a branded booking page, a branded mobile app, email reminders and confirmations, integrations, iOS and Android apps, and team tools. 24/7 human support is listed on the card. |
| Pro — “Get Pro” | Shown as $12 and $5 / user / month | Unlimited users. Annual billing is highlighted. Helper copy on the same page says “pro plan $5 per month” under annual billing. The page also prints “$12 5 user/month” lower down. Pro extras listed include SMS reminders, 2-way calendar sync, remove Setmore branding, block customers, Google Reviews, recurring appointments, and priority support. |
Source: setmore.com/pricing, fetched September 11, 2026. The live page does not print a clean “monthly $12 / annual $5” table in the markup we pulled. It shows both figures on the Pro card with annual billing selected. If their toggle or a later screenshot disagrees with that fetch, trust the live page — we will not invent the missing label. Their FAQ on that page defines a “user” as each staff member with their own profile; each staff calendar counts even without login permission. They also say you can try Pro risk-free for 30 days and request a refund. That is Setmore’s policy, not ours.
Setmore’s own “Live Receptionist” is a different product
The same pricing page lists a row called Live Receptionist: “Have your calls answered by a professional team of real people and stay available 24/7 for customers. Separate plan applies. Service available in the US only.” No dollar figure sits next to that row. We do not invent one.
That sentence is the whole point of this compare. Setmore knows the booking page does not pick up the shop phone. Their add-on, as they describe it, is humans on a separate plan. AIVA is the other fork: an AI receptionist trained on a nail menu that books the chair instead of taking a message. If you want a monthly hybrid human desk, that is a different catalog — see Smith AI pricing. If you want the line answered and the gel written while you stay in the set, that is this page.
What an AI phone receptionist does that a booking page cannot
A Setmore appointment link waits for a tap. An AI receptionist answers the number you already print on Google, Instagram, and the door. How that loop works in plain English is on how do AI receptionists work. On a nail floor the loop has to sound like the shop:
- Pick up the published number. Forward it. The caller does not learn a new line.
- Talk the menu. Gel vs dip. Fill vs full set. Acrylic. Pedi. “After 5.” “With Mai.” A generic scheduler that only hears “an appointment” fails here.
- Write a real chair. If Tuesday at 11 is open for that service and that tech, it books. If it is not, it offers the next true hole — not a ghost slot.
- Text the confirmation. Voice closes the call. SMS puts the time on the client’s phone. You see it when you look up from the lamp.
That is the job owners actually want when “setmore appointment” still leaves Saturday empty. The booking page can stay. The phone has to finish the booking.
Keep Setmore (or Vagaro / Booksy / Mangomint). Add the phone layer.
| Job | Setmore (live page) | AIVA |
|---|---|---|
| Public booking page & staff calendars | That is the product — Free or Pro as they publish it | Has its own staff calendar. Not sold as a Setmore clone |
| Per-user subscription | Yes — they charge per user / staff calendar | No. Unlimited staff on a one-time plan |
| Shop line answered mid-fill | Not the booking page. Live Receptionist is a separate, unpriced human plan on that page | Yes — 24/7 AI voice on a dedicated number |
| Book gel / dip / fill / acrylic from the call | Caller would use the booking page or a human add-on | Yes — menu-trained, writes the chair, SMS after |
| Native two-way sync into Setmore | — | We do not claim this. Honest stack. |
| Plan price (our live page, same date) | See table above — monthly per user | $200 one-time, no monthly plan fee |
Checkout can stay on Setmore, Vagaro, Booksy, Mangomint, or whatever register already closes the ticket. AIVA sits next to that stack. We do not ask you to migrate the book to fix the line that rings mid-fill. Wider name map: nail salon software comparison.
Bukkii AIVA: $200 one-time, not another per-user calendar
From bukkii.ai/pricing (September 11, 2026):
- $200 one-time. No monthly plan fee. No contract. Unlimited staff.
- Dedicated number, AIVA train on your menu and policies, calendar setup, forwarding, 100 voice minutes, 1,500 SMS.
- Then pay-as-you-go: $0.35/min voice, $0.035 SMS. Packs never expire — voice 100 / $35, 250 / $80, 500 / $140, 1,000 / $249; SMS 500 / $17.50, 2,000 / $64, 5,000 / $140, 10,000 / $250.
- No free trial. Live in about five minutes. CTA on that page: Get AIVA — $200. Register or call (215) 791-6766 and hear her.
A 6-tech shop on Setmore Pro is billed per user, every month, for the calendar. That can be the right buy for the booking page. It is the wrong meter for “someone pick up while I finish this set.” AIVA is the $200 phone layer for that sentence. Full breakdown lives on pricing.
When to keep shopping calendars — and when to stop
Keep shopping Setmore, or a Mangomint-class POS, if the hole is the register, inventory, or the public booking page. Those tools earn their keep on checkout and the book. Switch the search when the hole is the missed call: Saturday at 8:40 pm, the third ring during a fill, the Monday refill that walked to the shop next door. That is not a Setmore pricing problem. That is a receptionist problem.
AIVA does not replace a front-desk person who greets walk-ins and runs the drawer. She replaces the voicemail that never books. If your techs already live in Setmore, leave them there. Forward the published number. Let the AI write the chair. You stay in the set.
A Saturday that used to leak
Picture the book at 2 pm. Four chairs full. Tina is 40 minutes into a fill. The Google number rings. The caller wants a gel with Tina on Monday after work. Nobody can pick up without ruining the set in front of them. The booking page is live — Setmore is doing its job — but this person called. They will not open a link from a ringing phone. They will tap the next result.
With AIVA on the forward, that call becomes a Monday chair and an SMS. Tina never looks up. You did not migrate the floor off Setmore to get that outcome. You paid $200 once for the layer the calendar never was. That is the whole compare: Setmore vs an AI phone receptionist that books, not Setmore vs a clone of Setmore.
FAQ
Is AIVA a Setmore alternative for nail salons?
Only for the phone. AIVA is not a rip-and-replace Setmore calendar. Keep Setmore (or Vagaro, Booksy, or Mangomint) as the booking page and POS calendar. AIVA answers the shop line, books gel, dip, fill, or acrylic on a live staff calendar, and texts the appointment. We do not claim native two-way sync into Setmore.
What is Setmore pricing on the live page?
Fetched from setmore.com/pricing on September 11, 2026: Free is $0 per user per month, up to 4 users. That Free card lists unlimited appointments, payments, a branded booking page, email reminders, and apps. Pro is shown as $12 and $5 per user per month with annual billing highlighted; helper copy on the same page says Pro $5 per month on annual billing. Setmore defines a user as each staff member with their own profile — each staff calendar counts. We do not invent a cleaner monthly-vs-annual table than that page prints.
Do I have to replace Setmore, Vagaro, Booksy, or Mangomint?
No. Keep the booking and POS calendar you already run. AIVA is the phone and SMS layer that answers while hands are wet and writes the chair. Checkout can stay where techs already close the ticket.
Does AIVA sync two-way into Setmore?
No. We do not claim a native two-way sync into Setmore. AIVA books on the Bukkii staff calendar and texts the client. You keep Setmore for the public booking page and the register. That is an honest stack, not a rip of their appointment software.
